Restructuring Vietnam’s economy for growth

(VOV) - It is high time Vietnam restructure the economic growth model towards improving quality, efficiency and competitiveness, Minister of Planning and Investment Vinh made the comment at a two-day national conference in Danang on August 7.

The conference, presided over by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, discusses the socio-economic development plan for the 2016-2020 period and a draft of a five-year socio-economic plan proposed by the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MoIP).

Delegates also listened to speakers explain the main contents of proposed revisions to the Public Investment Law and Bidding Law.

Vinh said Vietnam is witnessing many renovations and facing a number of challenges. This year, the country may reach the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Agreement and many other free trade pacts, he said, noting that now is time for the country to implement stronger reforms.

Vinh added that it is vitally important to carry out planning and investment tasks, aiming to successfully fulfill the five-year socio-economic development plan (2016-2020).
