Quang Ninh welcomes opening of Technology and Energy Forum 2023
VOV.VN - The Ministry of Science and Technology and the Quang Ninh People's Committee co-hosted the 2023 Technology and Energy Forum in the northern province of Quang Ninh on September 29.
Upon addressing the forum, Cao Tuong Huy, acting chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee, emphazised that the country is exerting greater efforts towards the goal of becoming a high-income country by 2045.
The nation’s electricity demand ahead in the next five years is forecast to grow by about 8.5% annually amid fossil energy sources being increasingly depleted and causing negative impacts on the environment, he said.
Huy underscored the importance of energy transition as a means of reducing dependence on fossil energy whilst simultaneously increasing the proportion of renewable energy used by the national energy supply grid, noting that reduction in greenhouse gas emissions is a fundamental process toward green growth in the future.
He noted that the forum offers an ideal venue for the province to gain greater insights into experience sand practical solutions put forward by experts to ensure energy security and sustainable development; as well as the application of advanced technologies in the energy field such as wind energy, biomass, geothermal, ocean, and biofuel.
These moves are anticipated to contribute to further implementing the socio--economic goals toward a society that uses environmentally-friendly resources in an economical and effective manner, Huy stressed.
Technology and Energy Forum 2023 was held as part of the Techconnect & Innovation Vietnam 2023 themed “Innovation - Sustainable Development”, with the occasion featuring around 200 exhibition booths and five technology demonstration areas.
The event is designed to strengthen connectivity in the field of science, technology, and innovation among domestic and foreign businesses, as well as creating favourable opportunities for Quang Ninh businesses to expand their operations moving forward.
