Promoting green credit for sustainable agriculture
VOV.VN - In line with its strong commitments at the 26th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26), Vietnam regards agriculture as one of its key pillars, with room for sustainable growth and an important role in safeguarding national resources.
The nation is implementing its Green Growth Strategy to boost sustainable socio-economic development, while committing to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 in accordance with international climate goals. Under its commitments at COP26, agriculture is identified as a core pillar, offering potential for sustainable expansion and contributing to the protection of national resources.
One practical solution contributing to the realization of sustainable agricultural development is the communications initiative titled “Green Credit for Enterprises and Farmers 2025.”
According to Ho Xuan Hung, Chairman of the Vietnam General Association of Agriculture and Rural Development, through a communications network from the central to local levels, the program has combined a range of activities including policy communication, field surveys, training sessions and experience sharing.
In recent times, the Government has introduced various policies and measures to support the agricultural sector, aiming at sustainable growth and adaptation to climate change. At the same time, it is refining a new legal framework to attract investment in green, circular and multi-value agriculture, thereby creating more favorable conditions for enterprises and farmers to access capital, high technology and the international market.
These policies, together with specific initiatives such as the green credit communications program, not only reinforce agriculture’s strategic role in the national economy but also make an important contribution to the roadmap toward net-zero emissions by 2050, with the goal of building smart, sustainable and deeply internationally integrated agriculture.
