PM determined to accelerate SOE restructuring
(VOV) -Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has urged ministries, agencies and localities to speed up the restructuring of State-owned enterprises (SOEs).
He made the request while chairing a conference in Hanoi on August 6 addressing the status of the SOE restructuring process and progress made during the first seven months of the year.

Dung asked all relevant ministries, agencies and State-owned corporations to focus on re-arranging positions of key leaders. “Those business leaders who fail to fulfil their tasks should submit their resignation voluntarily,” he added.
The Government leader emphasized the need to strictly control capital withdrawal to avoid wastefulness and negative phenomena and fine-tune mechanisms and policies to remove obstacles from SOE restructuring, he said.
PM Dung also asked the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs to take appropriate measures to deal with unemployment that may occur during the business equitisation process.
According to recent reports, as of the end of July the Prime Minister had adopted 20 SOE restructuring projects. Since the beginning of this year, 76 SOEs have been re-arranged, mostly through equitisation.
In the reviewed period, VND2,975 billion has been withdrawn from businesses, three fold last year’s figure.
