Plentiful opportunities for stronger Vietnam-Romania cooperation
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese Embassy in Romania and the University of Pitesti in Pitesti city co-hosted a seminar on December 17, discussing plenty of opportunities for Vietnam-Romania cooperation, especially when Romania will hold the rotational presidency of the EU Council in the first half of next year.

Commercial Counsellor at the Vietnamese Embassy Hoang Anh Dung briefed participants on Vietnam’s achievements across a variety of areas, from economics, social affairs, culture to security, defence, and international integration.
He also touched upon Vietnam’s latest policies and regulations on foreign investment attraction and accentuated its key export items such as aquatic products.
Talking points at the event were also concentrated on benefits of the signing and ratification of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), especially investment partnership chances, outstanding economic achievements since Vietnam shifted from a centrally-planned economy to a market economy as well as the country’s incentives for foreign investors.
On this occasion, the embassy organized a photography and document exhibition featuring Vietnam’s land, culture, people, and development success over the past three decades of pursuing the Doi Moi Renewal) process.
According to the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, bilateral trade between Vietnam and Romania has seen rapid growth over recent years. However, annual trade volume is still below US$300 million, including around US$80-90 million from Vietnam’s exports.
As from late 2017, Romania injected US$1.2 million into two projects in Vietnam, ranking 93rd out of the 125 countries and territories investing in the country while roughly 216 Vietnamese companies operating in Romania with a total registered capital of US$2.4 million.
