The award honours the hotel for the standard of refurbishment in one of the most treasured properties in Southeast Asia, turning the legendary Metropole Hanoi into the Sofitel group’s leading hotel.

The hotel was refurbished with modern facilities throughout, during its five year restoration, between 2004 and 2009. However, it still retains the original 1901 architecture.

Last year, the hotel was placed on the Conde Nast Traveller magazines gold list and was voted as one of the world’s 500 best hotels by the readers of the magazine Travel & Leisure.
