The Vietnam Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex) will invest more than US$1 billion in 24 key projects from 2006-2010 to develop material growing areas, the textile industry, production and distribution systems, fashion design and infrastructure.
Worthy of note are projects to build a 1,000ha cotton growing farm in the southern central region, to manufacture 140,000 tonnes of fibre per year, as well as to build new factories and relocate existing ones to industrial zones in the northern and southern deltas and the central coastal region.

Vinatex expects to produce more than 400 million sq.m of fabric, including 270 million sq.m for exports, by 2010.
