Norway Pavilion opens at VietFish 2026 to showcase Norwegian Innovations

VOV.VN - The Pavilion marks the first national Norway Pavilion at Vietfish and represents the largest-ever Norwegian participation at the exhibition, reflecting the growing depth and breadth of cooperation between Norway and Viet Nam in fisheries, aquaculture and sustainable seafood production.

The participating companies and organisations are SalMar, Skretting, GenoMar Genetics AS, PHARMAQ, ScaleAQ, Optimar, Fjell Technology, Benchmark Genetics, TechValue, the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO), and the Norwegian Seafood Federation.

The opening ceremony brought together representatives from the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Viet Nam, Innovation Norway Viet Nam, the Viet Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), Vietnamese authorities including the Department of Fisheries and Fisheries Surveillance under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, as well as industry partners and companies from across the seafood sector.

The event highlights the longstanding cooperation between Norway and Viet Nam in fisheries and aquaculture, while also pointing towards new opportunities for collaboration in technology, innovation and development of sustainable ocean economy.

Statements from the Norway Pavilion

Chargé d’Affaires a.i., Royal Norwegian Embassy in Viet Nam, Mr Erlend Skutlaberg, said, “This event takes place as Norway and Viet Nam celebrate 55 years of diplomatic relations (1971–2026). As coastal nations and among the world’s leading seafood exporters, our two countries share many common interests and priorities when it comes to sustainable aquaculture, seafood value chains and ocean-based industries. Over the decades, fisheries, aquaculture and the sustainable use of ocean resources have been natural areas for cooperation and have become important pillars of our bilateral partnership.

Through the Green Strategic Partnership, Norway and Viet Nam have committed to strengthening cooperation on green growth, sustainable food systems and the ocean economy. Norwegian experience, technology and expertise complement Viet Nam’s strong ambitions and growing capacity in these areas.

The Norway Pavilion today is a great example of how we are turning the Green Strategic Partnership into practical cooperation. By bringing together Norwegian companies and organisations from across the seafood sector, the Pavilion not only showcases expertise, technologies and solutions but also creates new opportunities for partnerships, knowledge exchange and value creation in Viet Nam’s seafood industry.”

“One important lesson from Norway is that economic growth and environmental responsibility can — and must — go hand in hand, supported by science, sound regulation and close cooperation between government, academia and industry, with the private sector playing a key role.

The strong Norwegian presence here today reflects the breadth of expertise and innovation across the seafood sector — from genetics and fish health to feed, digitalisation, automation, processing and marine raw materials. Our companies will showcase practical solutions that improve fish health, reduce antibiotic use, enhance efficiency and traceability, and turn seafood by-products into higher-valuable marine ingredients.

While diverse, these solutions share a common goal: making the seafood industry more productive, resilient and sustainable, while creating greater value throughout the value chain. Through collaboration, Norwegian and Vietnamese companies can combine expertise, innovation and technology to build a more competitive and sustainable seafood industry for the future.”

Roy Olav Hovlid. Chief Commercial Officer, Fjell Technology Group, shared, “Vietnam is one of the world's leading seafood processing and aquaculture nations. As production volumes continue to grow, there is increasing demand for technologies that improve resource utilization, product quality, energy efficiency and environmental performance. Fjell Technology Group's solutions support these objectives by (1) Increasing value creation from fish by-products and processing residues. (2) Producing premium fishmeal and fish oil with high yield and stable quality. (3) Reducing operating costs through energy-efficient process design and heat recovery. (4) Supporting compliance with environmental requirements through advanced wastewater treatment; and (4) contributing to a more sustainable and circular seafood industry.”

Norway in Spotlight: Innovation and practical solutions

From August 19 to 21, the Norway in Spotlight programme will take place at the Norway Pavilion, featuring presentations from nine participating Norwegian companies on their products, technologies and practical solutions.

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore interactive exhibits, meet company representatives and learn about technologies and innovations addressing key challenges across the seafood sector. The participating companies will also take part in specialised seminars and B2B meetings with Vietnamese businesses and potential partners.

On August 20, Team Norway will host a Technical Seminar on Green and Sustainable Technology Solutions for Aquaculture and Seafood Processing in the morning. In coordination with VASEP and the Department of Fisheries and Fisheries Surveillance, Team Norway will also organise a roundtable discussion on value-chain linkages for sustainable production of high-value fishmeal and fish oil.

The Norway Pavilion provides a platform for Norwegian and Vietnamese businesses to exchange knowledge, explore partnerships and identify practical solutions that can support the continued development of Viet Nam’s seafood industry.

Visitors to Vietfish 2026 are invited to meet the Norwegian exhibitors at the Norway Pavilion in Hall B, Platinum 4 and Gold 18, and discover how Norwegian technology, knowledge and innovation can contribute to a more productive, healthy and sustainable seafood industry.

The Pavilion is particularly timely as Norway and Viet Nam celebrate 55 years of diplomatic relations and deepen their cooperation through the Green Strategic Partnership. It demonstrates how longstanding bilateral ties can be translated into practical partnerships — connecting Norwegian expertise and innovation with Viet Nam’s ambitions for a modern, competitive and sustainable seafood sector.
