Nine-month GDP expands 7.85%, signaling steady recovery
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese economy maintained solid growth momentum during the nine-month period of 2025, with gross domestic product (GDP) estimated to rise 7.85% year-on-year, the second-highest rate in the 2011-2025 period, only after the 9.44% recorded in the same period of 2022.

At a press conference held in Hanoi on October 6 to release third-quarter and nine-month statistics, Nguyen Thi Huong, Director of the National Statistics Office (GSO) under the Ministry of Finance, said GDP in the third quarter increased 8.23% from a year earlier, just below the 14.38% expansion of the third quarter of 2022- a period marked by strong post-pandemic recovery.
According to Huong, the agro-forestry-fishery sector grew 3.83%; industry and construction rose 8.69%; and services soared 8.49%. Manufacturing and processing remained the key driver of growth, while trade, tourism, and financial services also performed well thanks to recovering domestic demand.
“The national economy achieved very positive results in the third quarter and the nine-month period of 2025, with each month and quarter showing stronger performance than the previous one, despite ongoing global and regional instabilities,” Huong emphasized.
In terms of structure, agriculture, forestry and fishery accounted for 11.3% of GDP; industry and construction, 37.6%; and services, 42.9%. Final consumption rose 8.07%, asset accumulation grew 8.52%, while exports and imports of goods and services both surged by over 15%.
The GSO noted that the results reflect the government’s decisive efforts in macroeconomic management, institutional reform, innovation, and digital transformation, which have helped sustain high growth and lay a firm foundation for the remainder of 2025.
