New standards to classify state-owned enterprises will be issued later this year, according to a statement from the Government Office, which looks at Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung’s ideas on how to equitise state enterprises.

The announcement said that the arrangement and modernising of state businesses from 2008 until now has been slow due to poor coordination and unfavourable changes on the financial markets.

It also stated that the deputy prime minister has asked the Ministry of Planning and Investment to take responsibility for issuing such criteria, which clearly stipulate the areas where the state holds a major amount of shares in the whole operation of enterprises and the areas where the state holds the majority of shares in their initial process of operation.
