Moon cake shops struggle with slow sales

Many moon cake shops on Ba Trieu, Lang Ha, Tran Duy Hung, Nguyen Chi Thanh, and Tran Thai Tong streets have had a hard time with sales. |

They offer mooncakes of various shapes, sizes, and flavours, but sales have been sluggish this year. |

According to a shopkeeper of Long Dinh moon cake shop, this year, the number of customers has been average so far. |

“Long Dinh is a high-end moon cake brand so they are less popular than other domestic traditional brands,” she adds. The shopkeeper notes that customers tend to choose high-end cakes with a price of VND1 million-VND2 million a box instead of those costing VND3 million-VND4 million per box. |

Many companies also offer various types of moon cakes at different prices. |

Customers can buy a box of moon cakes with prices ranging from VND290,000 to VND2.5 million at Madame Huong’s shop. |

They also purchase individual moon cakes, for between VND60,000-VND70,000. |
