A delegation of businesses from the northern central US state of Minnesota will visit Vietnam from May 7-15 to seek trade opportunities and partners in Vietnam.

The Minnesota Trade Organisation (MTO) said that during their stay in Vietnam, the businesses will attend workshops on the Vietnamese government’s policies and the country’s market. They will visit the Vietnam Trade Fair and several enterprises and work with their partners.

The visit is expected to be successful as exports to Vietnam increased by 11 percent last year, reaching US$3.1 billion. According to the MTO, the growth in export value is mainly due to the Vietnamese government’s efforts in improving infrastructure and developing production.

In 2009, MTO received 75 foreign delegations and organised 4 commercial delegations to other countries to increase the US state’s exports.

This will be the first time the MTO has sent a business delegation to Vietnam.
