Mini Thailand Week 2019 kicks off in Ben Tre

VOV.VN - Mini Thailand Week 2019 officially began at the Vietnam International Trade Exhibition & Convention Center in the southern province of Ben Tre on July 19.

Delegates cut the ribbons to open the event.
Suparporn Sookmark, director of the Thai Trade Center in HCMC, said Mini Thailand Week 2019 has been organized in Ben Tre province for the first time, bringing with it 79 participating companies that are showcasing their products across 116 pavilions.

The firms are in sectors such as gảments and textiles, food and beverages, footwear, jewelry, and healthcare.

Upon addressing the opening ceremony, Consul General of Thailand in HCM City Apirat Sugondhabhirom expressed his delight at the rapid pace of development seen in the relationship and level of economic co-operation between Vietnam and Thailand.

The closer bond can be seen through a host of trade and investment activities occurring in provinces and cities nationwide, with Ben Tre province and the Mekong Delta region in particular seeing a surge of activity.

As of early 2019, Thailand had invested approximately US$1.7 billion in 77 projects in the Mekong Delta region with Ben Tre pulling in the fourth largest amount of investment from the country.

Le Van Khe, Director of the Ben Tre Department of Industry and Trade, underlined the importance of Mini Thailand Week 2019 as a means of strengthening trade ties between the two nations and securing Ben Tre province’s place as an attractive investment destination.

The event provides investors and businesses from both sides with a venue in which to seek business opportunities and increase future export-import activities, Mr Khe noted.

At present, enterprises from Thailand have injected US$194 million into eight projects throughout Ben Tre province, accounting for 18 per cent of the total amount of foreign investment capital in the province.
