Marvell Technology expands R&D footprint in Vietnam with three new offices
VOV.VN - US-based semiconductor giant Marvell Technology, Inc. has opened three new offices in Vietnam, with two in Ho Chi Minh City and one in Da Nang, affirming the firm’s long-term commitment to innovation in integrated circuit (IC) design, particularly in support of artificial intelligence (AI)-driven data centre infrastructure.

Speaking at the opening ceremony on September 30, Sandeep Bharathi, President of the Data Centre Group at Marvell, emphasised that the new labs represent Marvell’s long-term commitment to chip research and testing while highlighting Vietnam’s strategic role in the global semiconductor innovation ecosystem.
Marvell aims to develop a strong team of Vietnamese engineers capable of delivering advanced, high-performance semiconductor products to shape the future of AI data infrastructure, said Bharathi.
According to Le Quang Dam, General Director of Marvell Vietnam, 98% of the firm’s engineering workforce in the country are Vietnamese nationals.
"Our engineers here are contributing to some of the most advanced and complex semiconductor projects globally. The rapid growth of our team is a clear testament to the talent and potential of Vietnamese engineers", Dam said.
Initially focused on design verification, Marvell Vietnam’s engineering teams are now involved in the entire IC design process, from architecture and mixed-signal design to software development and hardware verification.
The new expansion also signals Marvell’s broader ambitions for workforce diversification and talent development in Vietnam. The firm plans to deepen partnerships with local universities and the Vietnamese government through scholarships, internships, joint curriculum development, and technical workshops aimed at nurturing the next generation of semiconductor engineers, including increasing the participation of women in tech.
The office openings come as global semiconductor firms look to diversify supply chains and tap into emerging markets with strong engineering talent. For Vietnam, Marvell’s investment is yet another boost as the country positions itself as a rising player in the high-tech manufacturing and design ecosystem.
Marvell Vietnam was established in 2013 with just five engineers operating out of a small office in the Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone. Over the past decade, the firm has rapidly scaled its operations. Currently, Vietnam stands as Marvell’s third-largest R&D center globally, with over 500 engineers — a target it achieved ahead of its previously announced three-year expansion timeline.
