Markets enjoy brisk trade as prices soar during Nguyen Tieu festival

VOV.VN - Due to the increased demand for offerings during the Nguyen Tieu festival, prices of several products such as fruit and flowers have seen dramatic price rises.

The domestic market during the Nguyen Tieu festival, which falls on 15th day of the first lunar month, is currently busy with customers wishing to buy products as offerings. With an increase in demand, the price of many products has risen compared to normal.
Fresh flowers sold in the market have seen the largest increase in price. 
Roses being sold in theNghia Tan market in Hanoi can fetch a price of VND5,000 to VND6,000 each, even increased to VND10,000 to 20,000. Meanwhile, daisies and Easter lily flowers are each priced at VND6,000 and VND25,000, respectively.
 
Many different kinds of fruits are also higher in comparison to normal prices.
Dragon fruit can be sold for between VND45,000 and VND60,000 per kilo while oranges are being sold at between VND35,000 and VND50,000.
Grapes from the United States are being sold at VND200.000 per kilo /kg whilst those from Ninh Thuan are being sold at VND90.000 per kilo /kg. Apples from the US range between VND100.000 and 200.000 per kilo.
The price of a Cat Chu mango hovers around VND50,000 per kilo.
The price of green bananas remains stable at between VND35.000 to VND60.000 per bunch. 
Fruits purchased from supermarkets do not see such price fluctuations.
An Ambrosia apple from Canada is priced at nearly VND90.000 per kilo while Gala apples from the US are only VND83.000 per kilo.
Pears from the Republic of Korea are traded at nearly VND750,000 for five kilos.
Other items that suffer from volatile prices during this time of year include votive offerings. 
The price of chicken ranges between VND110.000 and 130.000 per kilo.
 

Pork meat is priced at between VND70.000 and VND100.000 per kilo while beef is sold at VND230.000 to VND 260.000 per kilo.
