Japanese conglomerate Sojitz becomes major shareholder of Taseco Airs
VOV.VN - Japanese conglomerate Sojitz Corporation has acquired 14,927,160 shares in Taseco Air Services JSC (Taseco Airs), taking a 27.64% stake in the Vietnamese airport-services firm.
The transaction announced on September 14, 2026, was valued at over VND1,053 billion, or roughly US$41 million.
The shares changed hands through two block trades at an average price of over VND70,500 each, according to Dealroom.co, a global data platform that tracks startups, venture capital, and technology ecosystems.
Sojitz held no AST shares of Taseco Airs before the deal. Upon completion, the Japanese group became the second-largest shareholder in this aviation services company, ranking only behind Taseco Group, which owns about 23 million AST shares — roughly 51% of charter capital.
On Dealroom.co, Sojitz is one of Japan's largest diversified trading and investment groups, with a long history in Vietnam spanning energy, industry, retail, and consumer goods. Taseco Airs runs retail stores, duty-free shops, restaurants, and business lounges at major international airports including Noi Bai, Da Nang, Tan Son Nhat, and Phu Quoc.
The stake gives Sojitz direct exposure to Vietnam's aviation-services sector, with a focus on non-aviation services at airports.
