Japan praises efficiency of ODA funded projects in Vietnam

Most Japanese non-refundable official development assistance (ODA) projects in Vietnam have brought high efficiency and helped to improve the living conditions of the local people.

This was announced by the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam on April 9.

Japan has so far provided a total of US$2,582,000 in non-refundable aid to Vietnam, including US$1,726,011 to north and central regions and the remainder to south with 29 projects in the fields of education, health care, transport, agro-fisheries and the environment.

In 2009, the Japanese Embassy also approved 20 ODA projects at the grassroots level. Most of them were in education.

In 1992, Japan began resuming non-refundable aid to Vietnam. By the end of 2009, at least 382 projects had been implemented worth US$27.5 million.
