Investor approved for nearly VND 48.4 trillion wind power project in Gia Lai
VOV.VN -The People’s Committee of Gia Lai province has approved the results of the call for investor registration for the first phase of the VND48 trillion Hon Trau Wind Power Plant project, according to the Investment Promotion Center under the provincial Department of Finance.
Under Decision No. 464 dated February 3, 2026, VINENERGO Energy JSC, a member company of Vingroup, was identified as meeting the requirements of the request for expressions of interest to carry out the project.
The Hon Trau Wind Power Plant – Phase 1 has a designed capacity of 750 MW, with estimated annual electricity output of around 2.8 billion kWh. The project will connect to the national power grid at the 220 kV voltage level. Total investment is estimated at nearly VND 48.4 trillion.
The project will be carried out in two areas. HT 1A covers offshore wind turbine installations in the waters of Phu My district, with substations and transmission lines connecting to the national grid located within the district. HT 1B includes offshore wind turbines in the waters of Phu Cat district, with substations and grid connection lines situated in the Nhon Hoi Economic Zone, spanning Phu Cat district, Tuy Phuoc district and Quy Nhon city.
The project will use approximately 32.01 hectares of sea surface area and 17.61 hectares of land on a time-limited basis.
Provincial leaders said the project will supply clean electricity from renewable energy sources to the national power system, contributing to energy security, meeting local socio-economic development needs and reducing power transmission losses.
It is also expected to contribute to local budget revenues, create jobs, support socio-economic development and increase industrial production value in the province.
The Hon Trau Wind Power Plant is scheduled to be completed and put into operation no later than the fourth quarter of 2029.
