International expo on support industries underway

The 2nd Vietnam International Expo on Support Industries and Processing-Manufacturing (VIMEXPO 2021) officially kicked off in Hanoi on December 15.

The three-day event comprises 200 booths from more than 170 enterprises on a display area of 5,000sq.m.

Famous brands representing the automotive industry, equipment, and spare parts are on display at the expo.

Hosted by the Industry Agency under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, VIMEXPO 2021 is the only international expo of this kind held under the Support Industry Development Programme approved by the Prime Minister.

It offers a chance for businesses to introduce their products, technologies and investment opportunities; share experience and set up partnerships.

In his opening speech, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan highlighted the significance of the event, saying that it serves as a bridge to promote links between Vietnamese and foreign businesses.

The expo shows the Government’s attention and support and the effort of the Ministry of Industry and Trade for the development of supporting industries and manufacturing and processing industries in Vietnam, he said.

VIMEXPO 2021 creates opportunities to form and develop domestic value chains by attracting effective investment and promoting business connection between Vietnamese enterprises and multinational companies, he said.

The Government issued a resolution on measures to promote the development of support industries, which sets a target of Vietnam producing highly-competitive support products that meet 45% of domestic production and consumption demand by 2025 and 70% by 2030.
