Import-export turnover through Mong Cai International Border Gate surges 45% in Q1
VOV.VN - In the first quarter of the year, the total import-export turnover at the Mong Cai International Border Gate exceeded US$1.3 billion, marking a 45% increase compared to the same period last year, according to Tran Bich Ngoc, head of the Mong Cai Border Gate Management Board in Quang Ninh province.
Of this total, exports reached US$754.42 million, while imports amounted to US$557.69 million.
The number of enterprises completing procedures reached 814, an increase of 254 year-on-year, with 213 new enterprises. State budget revenue from import-export activities through the Mong Cai border gate totaled VND604 trillion, rising 43.34% year-on-year.
Additionally, nearly 1.77 million people completed immigration procedures at the border gate during the reviewed period, with almost 879,000 entering Vietnam.
Earlier in mid-March, authorities from Mong Cai City (Vietnam) and Dongxing City (China) agreed to cooperate in developing a pair of smart border gates.
The two sides pledged to promote several key initiatives, including the construction of the Mong Cai-Dongxing smart border gate pair. They also agreed to strengthen sectoral collaboration at the Hai Yen industrial park and the Van Ninh international port in Mong Cai, expedite the development of a cross-border e-commerce industrial park, and enhance transportation connectivity between the two cities with key projects such as the Mong Cai-Dongxing international railway and Bac Luan III bridge.
