Hong Kong- second largest investor in Vietnam

(VOV) - Last year, Hong Kong surpassed major investors like Japan, Singapore and Taiwan (China) to become the second largest investor in Vietnam, reported the Foreign Investment Agency (FIA).

Hong Kong has intensified huge investments in the real estate and textile-dyeing sectors.
The Ministry of Planning and Investment's FIA said up to mid December 2014, Hong Kong firms had poured US$3 billion in 99 new projects and 23 existing projects in the country.

Not a few Hong Kong investors have constantly expanded their operations and developed new textile projects. To date, Hong Kong has invested in 17 out of 21 sectors in Vietnam.

The processing and manufacturing sectors have attracted the largest investments from Hong Kong investors, with 409 projects totally capitalized at US$7.06 billion, accounting for 45.7% of Hong Kong’s total invested capital in the country.

Meanwhile, the property sector has 45 Hong Kong-invested projects worth US$2.5 billion (16.1 %).
