Ho Chi Minh City, China’s Guangxi promote cooperation in high-tech agriculture
VOV.VN - Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Bui Minh Thanh on March 27 received an agricultural delegation from Guangxi led by Xu Xianhui, Vice Chairman of the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, during their working visit to the city.
At the meeting, the municipal leader outlined Ho Chi Minh City’s development orientation, saying that the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sector has maintained stable growth of about 2.5% per year. High-tech agricultural production accounts for 45% of the sector’s total production value.
Discussing cooperation directions, he said high-tech agriculture is one of the city’s priority areas. As the country’s economic and science and technology centre, Ho Chi Minh City wants to work with Guangxi on programmes for expert exchanges and technology transfer in developing high-quality crop varieties and livestock.
He applauded Guangxi’s achievements in applying science and technology in production, and affirmed that the city attaches importance to learning from other localities in China to build safe and sustainable agricultural supply chains and promote a green economy.
For his part, Xu Xianhui said he was impressed by Ho Chi Minh City’s dynamism and development potential. He said Guangxi has for many years regarded Vietnam as a leading trading partner, places importance on ties with localities and key economic regions in southern Vietnam, and is ready to open its market further to key agricultural products.
He said the visit is expected to serve as a basis for specific cooperation projects in smart agriculture, particularly in applying digital technologies for traceability and building sustainable supply chains.
At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed to translate the discussed contents into concrete actions as a contribution to making cooperation between the two sides more substantive, practical and effective in the coming period.
