Ho Chi Minh City welcomed 195,000 foreign tourists in May, up 12 percent from a year earlier, according the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism.

The top ten tourism markets with the highest number of arrivals are the US, Japan, Taiwan, Australia, the Republic of Korea, China, France, Singapore, Canada and Malaysia.

Over the past five months, HCM City attracted 1.2 million foreign tourists with total earnings of VND12,000 billion, meeting 42 percent of the yearly plan and an increase of 17 percent compared to the last year’s figure.

The city’s tourism sector is currently intensifying tourism advertisement and promotion by reprinting tourism publications such as city guide books, maps and event calendars in Korean, Chinese, Russian and French.

In addition, it is actively preparing for the Nam Bo (South) Fruit Festival scheduled for June 1 and the International Tourism Fair slated for September.
