In the latest rankings, the two leading cities are New York (USA) and London (UK). Hong Kong (China) holds the third position among the world's largest financial centres. Southeast Asian representative Singapore maintained its 4th position in the rankings.
Others in the Top 10 are San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles of the US; Shanghai and Shenzhen of China; Seoul of the Republic of Korea; Dubai of the UAE; Frankfurt of Germany.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Huan from the University of Economics HCM City commented that HCM City is among the financial centres expected to gain increasing importance over the next 2–3 years. Its continuous rise in the rankings indicates that HCM City is moving in the right direction to enhance its financial competitiveness and narrow the gap with regional centres like Singapore.
Vietnam has decided to build an international financial centre to be located in both HCM City and Da Nang. It aims to make the HCM City building among the top 75 global financial centres by 2035.
