HCM City hosts Chinese trade exhibition
VOV.VN - The Zhejiang International Trade Exhibition kicked off on December 3 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre (SECC) in Ho Chi Minh City, with an array of the bestChinese products on show.
The exhibition themed “Zhejiang Made-all need” covers 100 booths of renowned Chinese businesses, including Alibaba, the global e-commerce giant founded in 1999 by billionaire Jack Ma.
This year’s event features a combination of both on-site and remote booths in order to allow foreign businesses to participate in the event, thereby ensuring safe trade connections are made between enterprises during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Addressing the opening ceremony, To Ngoc Son of the department of Asia-Africa Market under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, noted that trade co-operation between Vietnam and Zhejiang province has developed significantly in recent times. This upturn in trade has largely occurred since the nation’s trade promotion office was inaugurated in Hangzhou city in 2018, becoming the second of its kind in China.
Son outlined that the event offers a chance for local firms to seek partnerships in an effort to boost economic and trade relations between Zhejiang province and the country, as well as with ASEAN.
From the perspective of Zhejiang province, ASEAN represents a strategic trading partner. During the first half of the year, two-way trade between Zhejiang and ASEAN rose 16.31%, of which imports from ASEAN increased by 17.19% and exports to the bloc went up by 15.85%.
