Ho Chi Minh City and French localities’ cooperation in economics, trade, investment, tourism, healthcare and education has achieved practical results, said Chairman of the Vietnam-France Friendship Association, Duong Quang Trung.
Mr Trung made the statement at a get-together in Ho Chi Minh City on July 11 to mark the 219th National Day of France (July 14).
He said the first-ever French Week in Vietnam, held in Ho Chi Minh City in last April, was a vivid manifestation of the cooperation.
French consul general to Vietnam, Gerald Boivineau, highlighted the friendship and cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and French localities such as Rhone-Alpes region and Lyon city.
He said other French localities are willing to cooperate with the city and other provinces of Vietnam.
France is an important partner of Vietnam in Europe in terms of economic, commercial and investment cooperation as well as the provision of official development assistance (ODA).
