HCM City calls for Indian investment in metro line, hi-tech projects

The event, co-organised by the Investment and Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC) and the Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, introduced a number of the city's key projects to financiers, including 12 railway line and eight high-tech projects.

The city is seeking investment worth US$19 billion in 12 public transportation projects, including nine metro lines and three monorails, aiming to meet its sustainable urban development goals and reduce traffic congestion.

At the forum, representatives of the municipal administration also called for further investment from India in high-tech fields, with a view to transforming the city into one a science and technology hub that develops and provides high-quality electronic products and semiconductor circuits for domestic and foreign partners.

Currently, the Saigon Hi-tech Park is calling for investment in three research and development projects, four high-tech manufacturing projects, and a high-tech service project, totaling more than US$500 million.

The city also introduced several projects in the fields of environment, agriculture, trade and services, social housing, education, health care, and culture.

As of October, India had 237 investment projects in Ho Chi Minh City with total capital exceeding US$130 million, ranking 23rd among foreign investors in the city.
