Hanoi to develop 6-8 key night-time economy zones by 2035
VOV.VN - Hanoi plans to develop 6-8 key night-time economy zones and 15-20 late-night streets and public spaces operating after midnight by 2035 under a newly approved project on developing the capital’s night-time economy for the 2026-2030 period with a vision to 2045.
Under the plan, the night-time economy is expected to become an important driver of Hanoi’s urban economy by 2035, contributing around 7-8% of the city’s GRDP, with annual growth of 12-14% in services, tourism and cultural industries.
The city aims to develop at least three night-time cultural and tourism zones meeting regional standards. The night-time economy will also be managed under a smart-city approach, with 80-90% of transactions conducted through cashless payments and all key areas equipped with security surveillance systems and digital infrastructure.
By 2045, Hanoi is expected to become a regionally competitive night-time economy hub, with the sector contributing more than 12% of GRDP and attracting around 8-10 million international visitors to night-time activities each year.
It will prioritize the development of cultural, artistic, entertainment and night tourism spaces in Hoan Kiem, the Old Quarter, West Lake, the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long and the Temple of Literature and surrounding areas, while expanding eco-tourism, craft village and community-based tourism models in outlying areas such as Dong Anh, Gia Lam, Soc Son, Son Tay and Ba Vi.
The city also envisions developing the Hanoi Center for Culture, Arts, Commerce and Services along the Red River landscape corridor into a symbolic night-time destination for the capital.
In addition, Hanoi will develop digital platforms to support the management and operation of the night-time economy, promote digital payments and e-commerce, and expand public transport connections to night-time entertainment and recreation areas.
