Hanoi ready to help US firms expand operations

VOV.VN - Nguyen Manh Quyen, vice chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, voiced the capital’s support for investment and operations by firms from the US during a meeting with Economic Counsellor Lynne Gadkowski from the US Embassy in Vietnam.

Economic Counsellor Gadkowski said the US Embassy hopes that the local administration will continue creating the best possible conditions for US businesses to operate in the city.

The embassy also expects Hanoi to reopen its doors as soon as possible and carry out measures for post-pandemic economic recovery, thereby creating greater momentum for partnership between Vietnamese and US enterprises, she noted.

At the meeting, Matt Moore, director of the Global Health Security Programme at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Vietnam, said the CDC Vietnam is ready to share the US’s anti-pandemic experience and assist Hanoi in reopening and reviving the local economy.

Appreciating the co-operation goodwill from the US agencies, Quyen affirmed that investment - trade promotion and support for foreign enterprises, including those from the US, are always in the development target of Hanoi.

The capital recently held a conference aimed at learning about the difficulties and problems facing foreign firms, including those from the US, he said, adding that  Hanoi desires to create a favourable and open investment climate.
