Hai Phong seeks French investment opportunities
VOV.VN - The northern port city of Hai Phong introduced its development potential to French businesses at a conference held on May 25 in an effort to lure their investment into the locality.
Le Trung Kien, head of the Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority (HEZA), presented the city’s investment climate, development potential, advantages and incentives as well as cooperation opportunities for investors from Europe in general and France in particular.
He pointed to the fact that French investment in Hai Phong remains modest which is not on a par with economic cooperation potential between the two sides.
“Hai Phong expects to attract investment from the European Union in the fields of electronics manufacturing, high technology, automobile industry, construction, agriculture, renewable energy, education & training, and others,” said Kien.
“This also creates an opportunity for the city’s business community to acquire international experiences and know-how in management, advanced technology application, engagement in production chains, and adaptation of regulations to international standards,” he added.
He assured that HEZA will accompany, support, and promptly remove difficulties and obstacles for investors.
Representatives of the municipal administration answered French businesses’ questions concerning the city’s investment environment, its incentive policies and prioritized areas of investment and cooperation.
The conference was attended by Nicolas Warnery, French ambassador to Vietnam, Adam Koulaksezian, executive director of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and approximately 50 French businesses.
By the end of April 2022 Hai Phong hosted 64 FDI businesses from EU member countries, with a total investment capital of US$932.1 million. Some 16 of those businesses were investing a total of US$727.2 million in 20 FDI projects operating in the city’s industrial parks and economic zones.
