Ha Nam vows to support Japanese businesses’ operation in locality

VOV.VN - A leader of Ha Nam, a Red River province in northern Vietnam, pledged to provide continued support for Japanese businesses operating in the locality, while receiving a business delegation from Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture (Japan), on May 20.

Ha Nam considers Japanese enterprises as key partners in attracting investment, said Tran Xuan Duong, vice chairman of the provincial government.

According to the official, Japan is currently the second largest foreign investor in the province, with more than 100 projects spanning fields such as mechanical engineering, automobile and motorcycle manufacturing, and electronic equipment. Many of these enterprises are operating efficiently and have expanded their production scale.

Presenting an overview of the province’s investment environment, he said, in addition to modern and well-developed industrial parks, Ha Nam is focusing on improving transport infrastructure to better connect with other localities in the Red River Delta region and promote economic growth.

Ha Nam always creates favourable conditions and provides timely support for Japanese investment projects in various fields such as industrial production, construction, and health care, he said.

He expected that the Japanese delegation’s visit would mark a new step forward in cooperation between Ha Nam and Nagahama in particular, as well as between Shiga Prefecture and other regions of Japan in general.

Tomohisa Kawase, director in charge of trade and industry promotion at the Department of Industry and Tourism of Nagahama, highly appreciated Ha Nam’s investment environment following the delegation’s field trip to some Japanese companies operating in Ha Nam.

He said currently many companies from Shiga Prefecture are interested in investing in Ha Nam, and hoped the province would facilitate opportunities for them to explore and implement investment projects.

Kawase also noted that there are nearly 9,000 Vietnamese workers currently employed in Shiga Prefecture, with more than 750 living in Nagahama City alone. Therefore, the city hopes to cooperate with Ha Nam in vocational training and skills development for workers, as well as in sending labourers to work in Nagahama.
