The world’s price of gold has set a new record, making the domestic gold prices increase sharply to VND28 million/tael, the highest level since early December last year.

SJC gold on the morning of May 12 was transacted at VND27.95-28.05 million/tael, rising VND460,000/tael compared to transactions on the afternoon of May 11 and VND600,000/tael against the previous morning.

In the afternoon, domestic gold prices rose by VND50,000-100,000/tael compared to early in the morning to hover around VND28.10-28.15 million/tael.

The atmosphere in gold stores was quiet due to the cautious attitude of investors.

The sudden augmentation was caused mainly by fluctuations in the world’s gold prices. In the New York market, on the evening of May 11, the world’s price of gold was listed at US$1,235 per ounce, breaking the old record of US$1,226.5 per ounce set in 2009.
