Gia Lai calls for Japanese investment in five priority sectors
VOV.VN - The People's Committee of Vietnam's Central Highlands province of Gia Lai hosted an investment, trade, and tourism promotion conference in Tokyo on October 21, calling for Japanese investment across five priority sectors to materialize the Vietnam - Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
In his address at the conference, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tuan Thanh stated that following administrative restructuring, Gia Lai spans over 21,500 sq.km with a population of over 3.5 million.
The province holds strong advantages in agro-forestry raw materials, processing industries, renewable energy, marine economy, and tourism. Strategic infrastructure projects, such as the Quy Nhon - Pleiku Expressway and the Phu My deep-water port, slated for completion by the end of 2028, are expected to boost regional connectivity between raw material hubs, manufacturing centers, and sea ports.
During the nine-month period of 2026, Gia Lai’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) grew by 8.03%, while export turnover reached approximately US$3 billion.
The province attracted 227 new investment projects with total registered capital of about US$7.68 billion, including eight foreign direct investment (FDI) projects valued at roughly US$179.9 million.
To date, Gia Lai hosts 19 Japanese investment projects with total registered capital of about US$234.15 million, while bilateral import-export turnover neared US$435.76 million during the nine-month period.
The province has outlined five priority sectors for investment attraction: processing, manufacturing, and supporting industries; renewable energy integrated with artificial intelligence; high-tech agriculture coupled with deep processing; inter-regional logistics connecting border gates with seaports; and eco-tourism, resorts, cultural tourism, and modern urban development.
