French group wants to develop highways in Vietnam

VINCI, a French-based leading global group in infrastructure construction and concessions, hopes to cooperate with the Vietnamese Government and partners to develop highway projects in the country.

Fadi Selwan, Director of Business Development VINCI Concessions and Chairman of VINCI Highways, made the remark at a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung in Hanoi on August 3.

He said his group wants to exchange experience, transfer highway management and operation technology, and develop new highway projects in the Southeast Asian country.

Deputy PM Dung hailed the group for expanding cooperation with Vietnam in highway investment.

He said Vietnam is focusing on modernising its transport infrastructure system with a view to completing the North-South highway and developing a nationwide highway network by 2020.

The country will study the development of a high-speed railway and build major airports, he said, adding that this offers an excellent opportunity for foreign businesses to invest in Vietnam.

He asked the French group to directly work with Vietnamese ministries and partners to realise cooperative ideas.

The Vietnamese Government will create all favourable conditions for potential investors to develop infrastructure, especially in the transport secotor, he confirmed.

VINCI is managing over 7,000 km of highway and 36 airports in France and other countries.
