Foxconn plans humanoid robot production at Bac Ninh factory
VOV.VN - Fushan Technology, a subsidiary of Foxconn (Taiwan-China), is planning to manufacture humanoid robots at its factory in Vietnam’s Bac Ninh province, according to an environmental license renewal application submitted in April 2026.
The move signals the global electronics giant’s continued expansion of high-tech manufacturing in Vietnam.
According to TNGlobal, Fushan Technology intends to add a new production site at the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) Bac Ninh and expand its portfolio with three new product groups. These include measuring equipment, molds and mold components, as well as automation machinery, autonomous vehicles, and industrial humanoid robots. The expansion is expected to increase the company’s overall production capacity in Vietnam by about 1.25%.
Following the adjustment, Fushan Technology’s total annual output in Vietnam is projected to reach approximately 173.4 million units, equivalent to nearly 77,000 tonnes, covering electronics, audio equipment, UAVs, and various industrial products.
The company plans to install new production lines between May and August 2026, conduct trial operations in September, and begin full-scale production in November 2026.
Foxconn, one of the world’s largest electronics manufacturing services (EMS) companies, first invested in Vietnam in 2007 and has since committed around US$4 billion, primarily in Bac Ninh province, employing approximately 130,000 workers. The group has continued to expand its presence in recent years, including an additional US$58.3 million investment in Fushan Technology in 2025.
Earlier, Foxconn said it was studying the application of humanoid robots in several factories worldwide, including potential deployment in the United States, as part of its push toward AI-integrated smart manufacturing.
