First Vietnamese telecom gear lands in Argentina
VOV.VN - The first telecommunications shipment produced by Viettel Group arrived at a bonded warehouse in the port of Buenos Aires on June 18, marking a milestone in Vietnam’s effort to expand global distribution of domestically made high-tech products.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Argentina Ngo Minh Nguyet highlighted the strong potential for bilateral economic cooperation, especially in trade. She noted that Vietnam is currently Argentina’s sixth largest trading partner, with bilateral trade steadily increasing. About 90% of Vietnam’s imports from Argentina are agricultural goods, while some 70% of its exports to the South American country consist of phones, electronic components, textiles, footwear, and wooden products.
The Ambassador emphasized that Vietnam has strong potential to export high-tech products to South American markets, where demand is high. She said the Vietnamese Embassy in Argentina prioritizes support for reputable domestic enterprises, particularly those in the high-tech sector, seeking to expand into the region.
Viettel Group, she added, has established itself as a leading telecom player in Asia and is actively expanding into global markets, including Latin America. She expressed hope that Viettel’s products would soon reach all Mercosur members, including Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Uruguay as well as countries such as Colombia and Ecuador.
Caffaro Kramer, president of CTD -the importer of this shipment voiced confidence in the potential for broader ICT cooperation between Argentina and Vietnam.
Ngo Manh Khoi, head of the Vietnam Trade Office in Argentina, confirmed that the shipment, including fiber optic cables, accessories, and infrastructure equipment, had arrived after months of coordination among the Embassy, Trade Office, and Vietnamese enterprises.
He stressed that diversifying export markets is a key task for Vietnam’s overseas trade offices amid global trade uncertainties. The delivery, he said, opens new opportunities for stronger bilateral trade and cooperation in telecommunications.
