First-ever report on foreign investment in Vietnam released

VOV.VN - An annual report detailing foreign investment in the nation debuted as it was released on May 12 at a ceremony in Hanoi.

The report was published by the Science and Technics Publishing House in co-ordination with the compiling council of the annual report on foreign investment in the nation.

The report is expected to offer an insight into foreign direct investment (FDI) in the country and issues that must be tackled in order to raise the efficiency of FDI attraction and to serve socio-economic development, said Dr. Phan Huu Thang, former head of the Foreign Investment Agency under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, and chairman of the compiling council.

One of the primary purposes of the review was to look into regional and global FDI trends over the past three years, as well as other opportunities and challenges faced by the country in this regard, and offer recommendations to improve the efficiency of State management over foreign investment.

Associate Prof. Dr. Tran Dinh Thien, member of the Government’s advisory group and former Director of the Vietnam Institute of Economics (VIE), noted that the report satisfies a pressing need for the Vietnamese development process as it helps the world to understand more about the country.
