Finance forum connects Vietnam with global financial network

VOV.VN - A finance forum opened in Da Nang city on August 28, serving as a strategic platform to connect Vietnam with the global financial network and advance Da Nang’s ambition of becoming an international financial hub.

Vietnam Finance Forum 2025 is a flagship event of Da Nang Finance and Technology Week 2025, jointly organised by the People's Committee of Da Nang City and the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Policies and Strategies.

In his opening remarks, Nguyen Thanh Nghi, Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Policies and Strategies, emphasised the forum’s significance, calling it a strong reflection of Da Nang’s commitment to unlocking its development potential. He highlighted the forum’s role in fostering new growth drivers and contributing to the city’s target of achieving double-digit economic growth for the 2025–2030 period.

This year’s forum centered around three strategic pillars of finance, digital transformation, and semiconductors identified as essential to accelerating Vietnam’s innovation, technological advancement, and broader international integration.

Its key objective is to build policy dialogue and facilitate collaboration among government agencies, experts, scientists, businesses, and investors — both domestic and international — to develop Vietnam’s International Financial Centre, with Da Nang positioned as a core hub alongside Ho Chi Minh City.

Leading experts, academics, and corporate executives delivered presentations designed to create momentum for major initiatives, while enhancing cross-sector coordination. These efforts aim to support Da Nang’s transformation into a modern, globally aligned financial centre that contributes to national development strategies.

Chairman Nghi also pointed to blockchain and semiconductors as two of the 11 core technologies prioritised under Vietnam’s national innovation agenda. Blockchain applications, he noted, would focus on digital assets, secure transactions, network security, and supply chain traceability. The semiconductor sector would target research, pilot production, commercialisation, and technology transfer.

“This forum reaffirms Da Nang’s aspiration to become a new growth engine — a sustainable, innovation-led urban center deeply connected with global networks,” he stated.

Held in both in-person and virtual formats, the forum attracted over 500 delegates, including representatives from nearly 30 diplomatic missions, more than 50 international experts and speakers, and a wide range of leading enterprises, organisations, and investors.

As part of Da Nang Finance and Technology Week, there are two additional major events - Vietnam Blockchain Festival 2025 slated for August 29, and Da Nang Semiconductor Day 2025 slated for August 30. They both aim to strengthen the application of cutting-edge technologies in Vietnam’s key economic sectors, while fostering cooperation among scientists, businesses, and investors in technology transfer and innovation.
