Almost all of Vietnam’s agricultural exports now have an advantage in the world market, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

As the prices of farm produce in the market remain high, export prices have also increased. Since the beginning of the year, the export price of rice has increased by 42 percent, cashew nuts are up by 18 percent, and pepper is up 33 percent when compared to the same period last year.

Although farm produce has not increased in output, export turnover has risen due to high export prices. In the past four months of the year, Vietnam exported 169,000 tonnes of rubber, earning US$404 million, down 7 percent in volume but up 24 percent in turnover. The country also exported more than 29,000 tonnes of tea, earning US$36 million, up 2 percent in volume and up 35 percent in value.

Meanwhile, coffee exports decreased in both volume and turnover despite price rises. The export price of coffee was US$2,035 per tonne on average, up US$589 per tonne against last April.

According to MARD, the country earned US$2.6 billion from farm produce exports in the past four months, up 21 percent.
