Exports to Japan have surpassed US$1.7 billion the ASEAN-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership (AJECP) agreement took effect in December 2008, offering preferential tariffs to Vietnam.
The amount of revenue has accounted for nearly 28 percent of total export value to Japan.
The largest export earners are garments and textiles (US$955 million), followed by electric wires and electric cables (US$630 million).
Revenue is expected to rise further in April with a tax-cut to 9 percent for fisheries, vegetables, footwear and fruit juice imports from Vietnam to Japan.
