Exports to EU market surge in seven-month period

VOV.VN - Vietnamese exports to the EU market continued to see positive growth during the past seven months of the year with two-way trade turnover reaching nearly US$38.88 billion, according to statistics released by the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

In terms of the figure, Vietnamese export turnover to the EU in the reviewed period hit over US$29.57 billion, representing an increase of 16.74% against the same period from last year.

July alone witnessed two-way trade turnover reach over US$6.45 billion, up 15.4% on-year, of which exports to the demanding market soared by 24.34% on-year to over US$4.82 billion, making the country rack up a trade surplus of US$3.24 billion with the bloc.

Almost all key export items to this market enjoyed an increase in turnover compared to last year's corresponding with four groups of goods hitting more than US$2 billion, including computers; electronic products and components; phones and components; machinery, equipment, tools, and spare parts; and footwear of all types.

Most notably, the highest turnover was recorded in such markets as the Netherlands with over US$7.26 billion, followed by Germany with over US$4.58 billion, Italy with over US$2.95 billion, Spain with US$2.35 billion, and Belgium with over US$2.19 billion.

In contrast, imports from the EU to the Vietnamese market during the reviewed period rose by 10.08% to over US$9.31 billion.

In particular, there were three groups of imported goods from the EU earning a turnover of over US$1 billion, including computers, electronic products and components; machinery, equipment, tools, and spare parts; and pharmaceuticals.
