The European Commission (EC) delegation in Hanoi on May 30 released latest analysis of the European Union on Vietnam’s economic performance, its business and investment environment.

The report, known as Green Book, provides an overview of both opportunities and challenges facing the economy of Vietnam and recommendations for its future development, said head of the EC delegation to Vietnam Ambassador Sean Doyle at a press briefing in Hanoi.

According to the EC delegation, EU is currently Vietnam’s second largest importer, accounting for more than 19 percent of the country’s total export volume.

Leather shoes continue topping the list of staples exporting to EU, followed by garments and textiles, coffee, seafood and wood furniture.

The Vietnamese economy has developed strongly since its WTO accession and EU will continue enhancing its role as a key economic partner of Vietnam, the analysis said.
