Electronics exports surge to nearly US$143 billion, setting new record
VOV.VN - Preliminary data from Vietnam Customs shows that Vietnam’s electronics exports reached nearly US$143 billion as of November 15, 2025, up US$32 billion from the same period last year.
The surge, led by computers, electronic products and components, has driven the country’s total export turnover past US$410 billion, underscoring the sector’s role as a key driver of economic growth.
Export of computers, electronic products and components stood at US$92.13 billion, up 48.3%, while phones and components reached US$50.83 billion, up 5% from the same period in 2024.
In absolute terms, the sector expanded by US$32 billion year on year, a figure few had expected.
Compared with the full year of 2024, electronics exports over the past 10-plus months have already exceeded last year’s result by US$16.5 billion.
The electronics industry continues to affirm its role as a key driver of the economy, accounting for more than 30% of industrial export revenue in 2024, when it recorded US$126.5 billion, up US$17 billion from 2023.
Do Thi Thuy Huong, a member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Electronic Industries Association (VEIA), said Vietnam has moved “from a simple processing economy to a smart manufacturing hub, attracting hundreds of billions of US dollars in foreign direct investment (FDI) from major corporations such as Samsung, Intel and Foxconn.”
According to her, factories worth from tens of millions to billions of US$ operated by major technology groups from the Republic of Korea, the United States and other countries have helped maintain annual electronics export revenue above US$100 billion.
The sector currently provides jobs for more than 1.5 million skilled workers, supports technology transfer, and lifts the localization rate of components to 40-50% in some segments.
Businesses say this year’s positive export trend reflects a broader shift in global supply chains. As US inflation cools, interest rates stabilize and the inventory-clearing cycle nears its end, American importers are resuming new orders, further underlining Vietnam’s ability to supply major international partners.
