Ecuador, Vietnam record strong increase in bilateral trade

Two-way trade between Vietnam and Ecuador reached US$659 million in 2014, a year-on-year record increase of 83%, according to statistics released by the Central Bank of Ecuador. 

The Latin-American country exported goods worth US$625 million to Vietnam, up 93%, and imported about US$33.9 million, down 9%. 

Vietnam shipped to Ecuador mainly data processing devices, smart phones, fishing net and footwear while importing marine products, mainly frozen shrimp. 

Trade between the two countries rose sharply in recent years, from US$16.5 million in 2010 to US$172.4 million in 2012 and US$360.7 million in 2013.
