Dong Thap ships three tonnes of mangos to Europe
VOV.VN - The Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap on February announced the export of the first batch of mangos weighing three tonnes to the European market.
The exporters are the Vietnam Golden Gate Joint Stock Company, and the Westerfarm Company Limited in Cao Lanh District.
Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet, director of the Vietnam Golden Gate Joint Stock Company, said the company has planned to export eight tonnes of mangos to Europe from now till March.
The company will initially ship eight tonnes of mangos to Europe through a Dutch group and will gradually increase the volume and then expand the export markets to other European countries, said Nguyet.
The executive also revealed that in addition to mangos, the company will export other farm produce to Europe such as rice, longans, durians, jackfruits, guavas, and chilies.
Besides the European market, Dong Thap was licensed to export its mangos to the United States in 2019. The provincial administration has since directed relevant agencies to develop key programmes, promote trade, and call for investment in developing fruit trees, especially mangos.
