Domestic gold prices hit new record of nearly VND82 million per tael
VOV.VN - Domestic gold prices set a new record on March 7 as they hit VND82 million per tael for SJC gold bars and VND68.8 million per tael for gold rings.
At 2:30 p.m. on March 7 Saigon Gold and Jewelry Company listed each tael of SJC gold at VND79.8 million and VND81.8 million for buying and selling, up VND50,000 for the buying and selling prices compared to transactions in the morning on the same day, respectively.
At the same time, Doji Group rated the yellow metal at VND79.25 million and VND81.25 million for buying and selling, up by VND450,000 from the morning of March 7.
This marks the highest price recorded in history for gold bars as it surpassed the record of VND81.3 million per tael which was only set during the morning trading session.
Meanwhile, Doji Group bought and sold gold rings at VND67.5 million to VND68.8 million per tael, a VND250,000 increase over the previous session.
SJC’s gold rings were also listed at VND66.8 million to VND68 million.
Since the beginning of the year, the prices of gold rings have increased to VND5.8 million per tael.
Currently, banking deposit interest rates are too low as people have rushed to buy gold instead of putting their savings in banks.
Consumers’ demand has increased sharply, resulting in gold prices setting consecutive records.
