Domestic gold prices hit new record high
VOV.VN - Vietnamese gold prices continued to soar on the afternoon of December 19, hitting a new record high of VND74.9 million per tael on the back of the ongoing global market rally.
At 3:34 p.m. Saigon Gold and Jewelry Company listed each tael of SJC gold at VND73.9 million and VND74.92 million for buying and selling, up VND400,000 and VN500,000 for the buying and selling prices from the previous day, respectively.
On the same day, Phu Nhuan Jewelry Joint Stock Company rated the yellow metal at VND73.8 million and VND74.8 million for buying and selling, while Doji Group listed theirs at VND73.85 million and VND74.9 million for buying and selling. Those prices were up by VND300,000 from December 18.
The price of VND74.92 million per tael exceeded the record level of VND74.5 million per tael recorded in November 29, thereby becoming the highest level in history.
Meanwhile, prices of gold rings shot up VND500,000 to VND700,000 to reach VND61.52 million to VND62.52 million per tael.
This sudden rise is largely fueled by the robust increase occurring in global gold prices.
December 19 also saw gold prices rise by an additional US$1.1 to reach US$2,026.1 per ounce in the New York market.
Elsewhere, the price of gold on the world market was traded at US$2,025 per ounce on the gold exchange Kitco.
