Deputy PM visits Airbus plant in Spain

Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc on June 30 visited the Airbus plant in Seville, one of the group’s key production sites in the aviation and defence sectors, as part of his working trip to Spain.

During the visit, the Deputy PM was briefed on the group’s scale, production capacity, and development orientation. Founded over 50 years ago, Airbus has grown into one of the world’s leading aerospace corporations, employing more than 156,000 people in 180 countries. In 2024, the company reported revenues of EUR69.2 billion (US$81.6 billion).

He commended Airbus’s role and global standing in the aviation market, as well as its close and effective cooperation with Vietnamese partners, including Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air. In the defence area, he highlighted the efficient operation of the C-295 military transport aircraft by the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence since 2013.

Phoc appreciated Airbus’s offer to support Vietnam Airlines in modernising its fleet with high-tech, fuel-efficient, and environmentally friendly aircraft, in line with Vietnam's strategy to develop a green, modern, and sustainable aviation industry. He urged Airbus to continue working closely with Vietnam Airlines and relevant Vietnamese agencies to implement this cooperation on the basis of efficiency, sustainability, and long-term partnership.

He welcomed the proposal to enhance cooperation with the Viettel Group in the field of helicopter manufacturing and called on Airbus to continue supporting Vietnam in training human resources, transferring technology, and providing engineering and maintenance support, thereby contributing to the development of the country's aviation industry.

The Deputy PM expressed his support for Airbus’s investment expansion plans in Vietnam, particularly proposals to establish regional aircraft and equipment maintenance centres, as well as component manufacturing facilities at major airports. He encouraged Airbus to strengthen cooperation in research and development (R&D) and human resources training, and to facilitate greater participation of Vietnamese enterprises in Airbus’s global supply chain.

He affirmed that the Vietnamese Government will always support and create favourable conditions for foreign investors, including Airbus, to ensure stable and sustainable development in Vietnam, based on the principle of “harmonised interests and shared risks.”
