Deputy PM called for intensified anti-smuggling efforts
(VOV) - Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on September 27 worked with the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) on the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.
Over the past eight months, market management forces nationwide have handled nearly 64,000 violation cases, up 12.25% compared to last year’s same period. They also dealt with administrative violations, contributing a total of VND260 billion to the State budget.

Aside from this, the MoIT asked market management departments to set up inspection groups to control tobacco products, petroleum, liquefied gas fertilizer, poultry and helmets in some key provinces and major cities.
Minister Vu Huy Hoang said it is essential to raise public awareness about the combat against smuggling to help manufacturers and consumers alike to prevent fake commodities from entering the country.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy PM Phuc said, “Smuggling and trade fraud in border areas remain complicated, requiring the MoIT and market management forces to maximize their effort to combat smuggling, trade fraud and fake goods to consolidate consumer confidence and the transparency of the investment environment.”
