Da Nang sounds out business opportunities in Europe

VOV.VN - A delegation from Da Nang city recently paid a working visit to the Netherlands, the UK, and Germany to launch investment promotions and explore cooperation opportunities.

In the UK, the delegation hosted a "Da Nang Business Roundtable" introducing a range of key projects and calling for greater investment from potential British investors into the central city.

They also attended an investment promotion conference held in Germany’s Bremen state to popularize its priority areas that seek greater foreign investment.

According to the representatives of Da Nang, the central city is one of the five largest urban centres in Vietnam that boasts several advantages in terms of strategic location, developed infrastructure, high-quality human resources, and a greatly improved business climate.

They noted that financiers in Bremen state and Germany in general have strengths in marine economic development, aerospace technology, high technology, supporting industries, information technology, and logistics, all of which represent key fields and are in line with Da Nang's orientations for investment attraction

The central city plans to give priority to attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) projects in hi-tech, advanced, and environmentally-friendly industries, including clean and renewable energy, high-quality tourism, financial services, and logistics, as well as developing modern technical infrastructure, especially Industry 4.0 based industries.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on investment promotion co-operation was signed between Da Nang and Bremen's economic development agency (Bremeninvest) during the event.

It is anticipated that the MoU will pave the way for the two localities to launch additional schemes aimed at strengthening connectivity among businesses, as well as co-operation schemes in various fields such as trade, tourism, technology, and education.

For her part, Minister of Economic Affairs, Labour and Europe Kristina Vogt revealed that Bremen state is a centre for commerce and industry, automation, shipping, logistics and maritime economic exploitation, aerospace industry, renewable energy, seafood processing, frozen food, and beverages. The state also boasts strengths in marine economic development, a workforce of more than 40,000, and a developed automobile industry, meaning it has the capacity to strengthen co-operation with Da Nang in the future.

Meanwhile, during a working session with representatives from the Port Authority of Rotterdam, Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, vice secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee and chairman of the municipal People’s Council, suggested that the Port of Rotterdam Authority and Boskalis International B.V Company actively introduce Dutch investors in an effort to lure investors to Da Nang and develop the city’s priority areas for further investment.
